Dallas, Texas – (Galleria) Provided with a 2,000 SF shell, we were approached by Aftershock London to design a clothing store that would match the style of their merchandise, elevate their new branding package, and maximize sales exposure while maintaining comfortable customer circulation. With a carefully laid out combination of wall and floor display areas plus a strategically placed point of sale, we were able to achieve a visually pleasing and operationally efficient floor plan. By marrying cool, white porcelain “wood-plank” tiles with a neutral satin paint wall finish accented with glossy warm gold soffits, a glowing backdrop for the dresses, shoes, and accessories appeared. The correct combination of architectural and decorative lighting was imperative to showcase the merchandise and add a touch of glamour to match the design of the clothing. Niches lined with beaded textiles lit by discretely concealed fixtures create sparkling touches fit for this edgy yet sophisticated line of clothing.
Lewisville, TX - This 2,500SF first floor retail space occupied a tricky building corner, wedged by core and shell common area amenities, resulting in a challenging taper that gave us a run for our money during space planning. Serving as a dog daycare facility in addition to a grooming studio, the space required that very specific programming and adjacencies be met for both their furry and human clients. Plumbing for the bathing area needed to meet complex code restrictions and a special floor epoxy was specified to ensure “dog-proofing” of the sealed concrete. Specialized acoustical insulation was incorporated into the ceiling treatment to keep noise from permeating the second floor office spaces. Striated porcelain tile set in brick pattern anchor the entrance which includes a custom designed waterfall-style reception desk made from crisp white and gray wood laminates. The space is illuminated by suspended coffered linear fluorescents, completing the fresh, urban, playful vibe, perfect for a pooch.
Dallas, TX – Looking to open a third location, the owner of this private training fitness studio asked us to design an architectural branding and finish package that could easily translate to future spaces, streamlining the construction process. We were able to turn around a speedy set of bid, permit, and construction documents while selecting bright white and colorful tiles, stones, and laminates to illuminate the vibrant, energetic qualities of the franchise brand. At the entrance to the space, a custom-designed reception desk sits below a floating gypsum cloud to greet patrons while in the back, walk-in glass-tiled showers are flanked by towel cubbies to pamper them. The physical pain inflicted by trainers in between these spaces, we take no credit for.
Multiple locations throughout Texas – Heitler Houstoun Architects out of New York approached us in 2011 to serve as the local architect of record for their flagship blow dry “bar” concept in Texas. Since then, we have stamped and sealed construction documents for four other locations across the state. Our service offering as local architect of record for out-of-state designers includes drawing peer review, code and accessibility compliance review, field verification and as-built documentation of existing site conditions, TDLR registration / RAS coordination, facilitation of construction bid / negotiation, and permit application, procurement, and expediting.
Lewisville, Tx - This 2,000 sf retail space is located in the prestigious Castle Hills Community in Lewisville, Texas. The client came to us wanting an industrial rustic look to compliment their raw wood display shelves. A floating gypsum and wood soffit was placed over the cashiers desk to provide a focal point for the store. Industrial edison bulb lights build on the industrial look. A combination of wood laminates and natural woods accent the retail area. Wood grain ceramic tiles were selected for the bathroom walls which matched the epoxy floor coating selected for its durability.
Dallas, Texas - While working at GFF Liz Johnson was the project manager of this large (46,000sf) adaptive re-use project. Austin, TX – Formerly a cycling shop located in a retail center off of William Cannon Drive, this 1,300SF space needed a design to accommodate a new-age service that has become a necessity among athletes and wellness seekers alike. Long, narrow, and open to structure, the interior required a thoughtful layout of the private treatment room to achieve proportions that felt comfortable and spacious while still adhering to building code and accessibility standards. The private showers are custom finished with textural gray field tiles and rippling glass accent tiles, while the welcoming entrance and vanity vignette round out a spacious yet boutique health experience.
Plano, TX – When Park Place Lexus selected the Spring Creek location to for their new dealership, we teamed up with Emily Owens Design Group and Good Fulton & Farrell Architects to complete interior construction drawings and FF&E selections. The result harkens more to a luxury hotel lobby than a car showroom. The display floor shows a unique porcelain plank tile pattern with varying tonal colors, widths, and lengths. Custom ceiling light sources hidden by curved fabric wrapped panels illuminate the vehicles below. Feature display and reception walls are clad with warm woods and iridescent wallcoverings, while the sales offices and customer lounge exude comfort with carpet and rugs that are both plush and functional. Both the customer and employee food service areas operate with thoughtfully designed millwork stations, providing for optimal circulation and visual accessibility to other showroom departments. Large, comfortable leather and wood furnishings accompanied by low, sophisticated lighting create a relaxing environment for both employees and customers alike.
